This book is truly a breathe of fresh air filled with honest and real perspectives in life. It is a practical guide to an area of life that isn't often taught- the ability to transition from a teen to an adult. I cannot wait for so many others to have their minds opened and hearts softened as a result of reading these pages. I know of Malissa's character and integrity. In a world of many fake role models, She exemplifies "Life Tumbled" as a ray of light in having optimism through life's trials. This book is a healing perspective for all youth and parents alike. For me as a husband and father of 4, Malissa is helping prepare my family and I for future events we will experience. I am truly inspired in reading "Life Tumbled" and excited to share this book with so many others!

Whether you have helicopter parents who have taught you everything or parents who have given you more space than you would like, you will want to read this book as you navigate the transition into adulthood.  The advice is solid and up to date.

In true Malissa form, this book presents direction with love and acceptance.  I have known Malissa for almost 10 years.  She is one of the women I admire most….both professionally and personally.  She gives everything 200% and isn’t afraid to be authentic.  She is real, comforting, full of love and ready to get her hands dirty.  These traits allow her to excel in areas that many are too afraid to even attempt.  Her commitment to excellence and loving herself and others for who they are is infectious.  If you know Malissa, you want to be around her; to gleam a little of the magic she possesses and gives so freely of.  As a Christian mother myself, I find her advise on point with how I want my own child raised.  Thank you Malissa for this amazing guidebook.

It all started when…

In 2001 my father was killed in a car accident. This was one of life’s grinding moments for me. The most important lesson that I was taught from life beyond was a few months after his death when my father’s spirit came to me to teach me about not being afraid. At that time my children were 6, 5, and 1. We were experimenting with a rock tumbler. We were in the first phase of the tumbling process. I was standing over the kitchen sink holding the rock tumbler and looking at the rocks and wondering if they were smooth enough?

I felt my father’s spirit.

Here are the impressions received. Our spirits are eternal. We have come to this earth to receive a mortal body to learn how to control and shape our lives that will affect our eternal progression. We all have beautiful colors. We are given weaknesses with our bodies, emotions and chemical makeup, which are all different. We have sharp edges, challenges that we must learn to smooth out and overcome on earth.

Our earth life is the rock tumbler. The grit is the challenges of life. The rocks are us and those who bump up against us in this life to help us along the way to help smooth us.

The rock tumbler holds the rocks and grit and turns for days to smooth out the rough edges. How do we handle these gritting events?

Will we allow the grit to smooth us?

Do we put ourselves in opportune moments to smooth us even more?

My father’s spirit reminded me to not be afraid. To seek learning and growth on earth. He also informed me that in the after life we will not be able to work on ourselves as easily as on earth so take the opportunity to develop and grow in knowledge and experiences. This will bless your life and through eternity.

My father’s life was taken too soon and he wished he could have the opportunity to try again. If he knew what he knows in the afterlife, he would have accomplished so much more. He wanted to tell me, but he could not tell me more. He said “Do not be afraid. Go for it! Go do good.” The pressures of the world hold us back. Stop the fear, do good and live your great potential.

We are in this mortal shell. If we can have an eternal perspective and do the good that is needed to do the Lord’s work to bring to pass the eternal life of a man we will find true joy not just in this life but the life beyond.

Back to the rock polisher, I was impressed that after we die that we get our polish in heaven. So we must do all we can to smooth out our rough edges here on earth. Just like the rock polisher when you take out the rocks and rinse them and put the polish on.

The reason for this website is for me, my posterity, and any others wanting to learn from each other’s life experiences.

I want a place to document learning, and lessons and offer ways to help others along the way.

I have had many mentors in my life that have helped to shape me. If I can help you, I’m glad to do so.

I love and work with the Young Women in my community. I want to help them grow and discover. I put Christ and my Heavenly Father in my life daily and enjoy being around those who want to follow and act on the gospel. I feel we can learn from each other. We can be the rocks in the same tumbler and bump up against each other and help each other smooth ourselves out in a kind way. I want this to be a safe place.

I welcome all those who want to be in this tumbler with me.

Happy Tumbling!
